Chickens
- Chickens are part of the bird family, but
they cannot fly far.
- Chickens have a comb on their head and two wattles under their neck.
- They use their beaks to clean themselves in a process called preening.
- A rooster is a male adult chicken and a hen is a female adult chicken.
- A rooster and a hen must mate to create a baby chick.
- They live around 10-15 years.

What is a Hen?
- A hen is a female chicken.
- She is ready to lay her first batch of eggs when she is 6 months old.
- A hen lays approximately 6 eggs at a time.
- She sits on the eggs to keep them warm until they hatch.
- She teaches her chicks how to eat by pecking at the food.

What is a Rooster?
- A rooster is a male chicken.
- He has a bigger body size than a hen does.
- He also has a larger comb and wattles than a hen does.
- His feathers are more colorful than hen's.
- He is stronger than a hen and uses his spurs to fight enemies.
- Roosters do not lay eggs.
